Mammoth Ran Its Annual Pond Skim--With A Twist

Viewers cheered and celebrated the makes and the crashes, and then everyone came together for an afterparty at Lincoln Bar. Some, wetter than others. 

The feature leading down to the pond made for an interesting challenge, as some people chose to approach it before attempting to cross. 

Getting across a pond on skis is bad enough (depending on your waist width) but doing tricks in front of an audience and then crossing the pond seems like the most daunting way to approach a pond skim event. 

Hats--or, helmets--off to you, sir. 

Regardless of how skiers chose to approach the skim, it looks like everyone had a great time. Mammoth is known for its aprés scene, and this one did not disappoint as the season's end draws closer.

(Mammoth is open through Memorial Day this year, and last season, Mammoth closed in August, so April isn't that close to the end depending on much you care about snow quality.) 

Some of the tuning shops close on April 21st, leaving only Main Lodge open for tuning, but everything else is alive and well at the Californian resort. 

With a base depth ranging from 94-145 inches at the resort, spring is in full swing. Plus, 6/6 parks and 2/2 halfpipes are open, so there's no shortage of challenges to be had inbounds right now.
